  I cant remember the exact title: something like JWs in the 20 Century?

  Anyway, whilst everone else was raving about how faith strengthening,

  I was thinking, so 100 years ago they were saying the end is iminent, and were often abused, persecuted, etc for their faith.

  And now they are all dead, and even their children are dead.

  And what about me in 100 years time? Is all that I'm sacrificing a waste of my time and life?

  I think so. So the only answer was to leave. Once the seed sown.........................

  New light on NEW LIGHT

  well, it just sort of came to me while i was driving.. the doctrine of new light is a false analogy.. why had i not considered this before?.

  here is what i'm thinking; see if you don't agree.... jehovah's witnesses are divided into three distinct tiers of membership.. 1.governing body anointed.

  2.clueless anointed.

  Nice analogy Terry.

  That makes me think of Moses.

  If Moses had made so many mistakes when he went before Pharoah, Israel would still be in Egypt.

  When Gods prophets in the bible said something, they got it right first time and you'd better believe what they

  said or else.

  Making all those re-interpretations just gets God a bad name.

  How do people live with the threat of earthquakes in areas prone to them?

  I cant imagine that they all want to become jdubs so as to be saved!

  Does the jdub message regarding earthquakes and the time of the end

  have the same or more impact with locals?

  A Major Break Through!

  i just wanted to let you all know that i have had a major break through with my mom.. we have hashed everything out and she not only apologized for hurting us, but she also said she understands why we've made the decisions that we've made.. and best of all?

  she is going to try to help us both get our kids back.. she had no idea of all the stuff going on with our ex spouses and she's very upset about it.. she said that she accepts where we are at in regard to the religion and although she does hope we might change our minds down the road, she just wants us to be happy.. at this point she still feels she needs to respect the disfellowshipping arrangement and i'm not pressuring her about that.

  after all, rome wasn't built in a day and i would say major progress has been made here.. just wanted to let you guys know where things are at right now and a big thank you for all of your support, advice and care through this ordeal..

  as i was driving to work this morning, i saw a familiar looking car a few yards ahead of me that kept making stops where people were standing alongside the roadway.. when i drove past the people, i noticed wt and awake!

  in their hands.. well, lo and behold, this jw woman to whom i once referenced in the link below was "placing" literature with them!.

  I actually saw in one city, the magazines attached to a vending board, out side a train station, much like one might see newspapers etc. There was no one nearby.

  evidently, since we are so close to end of this system of things, god has seen it fitting to fill the final spots held open for the 144,000.. there.

  simple, elegant, and doesn't require an overhaul of the 144,000 jw belief..

  Then one day I was out for a walk. I saw cars driving past, hundreds of people and I thought: 'Is God going to murder all these people and children just because they don't want the watchtower

  Me too.

  And also:

  "I'm going to live forever"

  What 100years?- no, longer

  200 years?- no longer.

  1000 years?- no longer

  1000000 years? no longer

  A trillion times one trillion years?-.............................................oh come on!

  I like logical things. None of all that is logical.

  Distinguishing Characteristic? (Just thinking out loud)

  although this is coming from a recent post on another thread by an individual who claims to be a jw, it is something that i have heard expressed by other jws.

  it is a supposed distinguishing jw characteristic:.

  ...and while they have not always gotten it right the first time, one of the things that distinguish them from other christian denominations is the fact that they are willing to abandon beliefs when they come to realize that such beliefs are premised on wrong conclusions.. while other christian denominations seem unwilling to adjust their theological viewpoints, even when they are presented with clear evidence demonstrating flaws in what are essentially the underpinnings of their theological beliefs, because jehovah's witnesses embrace bible truth, we, unlike what other christian denominations do, distinguish ourselves by championing bible truth over what we may have thought at one time to have been bible truth.

  Our God knows at all times who it is here on earth that is doing their best to do His will, even when He knows we've gotten something wrong.

  There are a whole lot of people "doing their best to do his will" as the author puts it.

  How obnoxious to presume that only jws are "doing their best".

  when reading all of the variety of toppics on this site it appears by the lack of responses that some dont really care about your subject?

  or they just cant find the word to say, or they mosly like reading but not commenting.

  and some subjects ive read that have had many comments compared to others are just plane stupid as hell.
